Lasting Power of Attorney

Thousands of people every year suffer from strokes, dementia and sudden unexpected brain damaging accidents. If assets are in your sole name, your loved ones are unlikely to be able to access them in order to run your financial affairs without making an application to the Court of Protection for deputyship. If that application is required, it is an expensive and time consuming process and often the person that acquires deputyship may not be the one you would have chosen before the illness occurred.

The solution is to make Lasting Power of Attorneys now to choose the person you know and trust and so the documents are ready to use if required.

Property and Affairs LPA

This Power of Attorney allows you to nominate one or more attorneys to make decisions for you in respect of your financial and property affairs. This includes making decisions to pay bills, collecting benefits and selling your home.

Personal Welfare LPA

This Power of Attorney gives your chosen attorney(s) authority to make decisions relating to your personal welfare. It can include the attorney making decisions about things such as your daily routine, medical care, moving into a care home and refusing life-sustaining treatment. This Lasting Power of Attorney can only be used once someone is unable to make their own decisions.
